Hello and welcome back to Pop Pop's Spot.
I pray God is blessing you and yours, and you had a great week.
I my self have been doing well. Going through some trials as all of us have I am sure. I went for what I hope is the last part of an ongoing trail that has spanned more than two months. My prayer is that I have gone through it to God's standard and gone through it well. I pray if I have not that I learn the lesson that he needs me to learn. I believe that it may have been more than one lesson that he was trying to convey to me. I am only human after all that fails and falls often. I am so thankful for the saving grace that Jesus offers. I have been a Christian since I was about 13 years old. I was however a very rebellious child from time to time. Thank God he was always with me. Everywhere I traveled, I was never alone.
I am what we call "Christians" that is, a true bible believer. I know that neither of those are very popular things these days. I believe it is because we as bible believers know we must take all scriptures as is. Never adding to nor taking away from them. Accepting it as is. I know the argument that it is up to one's interpretation. The problem in today's culture is everyone wants to change scriptures in some way to make it fit to how they want to live their lives. That just does not work in God's plan. And as Christians, we must point this out when we see it. That is what we are charged to do. To be salt and light unto the world. We do this with love and caring, of course.
Most of the time it is a very calm encounter, other times it can turn into a heated event. I watch several street preachers that go into places and events that turn into many heated events. Many may say they are going there just to start trouble. There was a time I may have even said that. I know that was my issue during one of my rebellious stages. Again, God never left me even then.
Thinking this way, we fail to see the truth that they are just trying to do God's will and spread his good news of salvation that all can freely accept. If they do not understand this, they are still in darkness, and they need to be shown the light. All we do as Christians is plant the seed of light into their heart. That seed can be nurtured and watered by the Holy Spirit. It may grow into the understanding that we all need. We hope it causes a curiosity that grows for more understanding that will lead them to reach for a Bible to get more information and this will be a snowball effect in their lives, and they will join the ranks of God's church upon this earth. All can accept this gift that Jesus sacrificed his life for all humans to have.
I need to interject something here before old POP POP forgets.
While watching all those street preachers, I have never seen any of them stopping an individual by the arm or forcing anyone to listen to them. Most of the time, it is the individuals that are opposed to the gospel being presented for all to hear that have the biggest issue with it. Maybe due to the light being shined on their sins that cause their reactions?
They have at times even turned to violence in the videos I have watched. And the one thing most of us overlook is that they could have just walked on by and not CHOSEN to listen to it. We have free will granted to us by God the father, we choose our path in life. As Christians, the only thing we can do for someone who clearly rejects it is to pray for them and leave the rest to God. The gospel is simple to understand in my opinion. It was written, so even a child can understand it. We grow up and get more and more knowledge, and we think we know more than God. As I said perilously, God gave us free will. You can choose the path your life takes. You can choose the religion you want to follow. However, is it real. Christianity is a religion of faith on the belief that Jesus Christ was born the Son of God, our creator and lived a sinless life and was crucified for all of our sins. His word remains the same. It is Eternal. It was God breathed and God spoken into existence. God wrote it into our DNA and in our hearts, it is a master plan and there is no way this could have just happened by accident. I know most will argue it can not be believed due to how it came into existence. Written on scrolls, stored in clay pots in caves in the extreme desert environment, over thousands of years ago. To me, that what makes it the most believable religious document on the planet. I can not bring myself to believe that thousands of years ago we were that developed as human beings, we could make up such miraculous stories. I believe it is real events that they witnessed in those days. There are real made up religions today. That is a fact. I can not believe anything I know a man has made up. I pray for all those who follow those religions and hope one day they see the light. Likewise, I will strive always to share the light that Christianity brings into this wicked world. I pray all will eventually see the light.
The older I get, the more I understand this. It seems these days I find my self in a constant state of prayer. I find myself praying for the situations and issues that are constantly arising. I encourage everyone to take the time to pray and take time to get into God's word! There is nothing in his word that will ever do harm to anyone, it instructs us to strive to do good works always. If you do not have a bible, please reach out to a Gideon, church or myself and other fellow Christians, and we will get one to you. In today's technology age, you can find free bible apps to install on your smartphone. No one should be far from God's word. I would like to leave you with this.
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come.
Thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory,
forever and ever.
Amen.
